A messenger of God once asked with rhetorical vigour, “Does not even nature itself teach you?” Without question, nature teaches us. There is behaviour that aligns with nature and behaviour that goes against it. Some actions are so contrary to nature that nature itself, being instated by God, must deal with its rebellious students with extreme severity.
Even in the absence of God’s law, nations were evicted from their lands for violating the law of nature. The nation of Israel was a tool in the hand of the Lord God, used to cast out people who broke laws taught by nature. As a result, the lands in which they dwelt were rightly labelled “defiled.”
Nature itself was repulsed by these sinful practices to the point of sickness. It groaned and heaved, soon to vomit out its inhabitants because of their disgusting deeds. And as it once did, it will continue to do. For the laws God has established have not changed, nor have people learned from the brutal ends of past nations.
It was God’s own holy nation of old, Israel, that was warned about these practices. In receiving such a warning, they were not excused from the same consequences as the nations that perished around them.
Refusal to address unnatural practices as a civil matter on a case-by-case basis would inevitably lead to the same sin becoming widespread on a national level. They were to deal with sin as the punishable offence that it is, obeying the command of God by judging the evildoer. Whether a person was an Israelite by birth or adoption, the same standard was required.
It was a matter of avoiding unnatural practices. No matter how much a practice grows in popularity, the verdict has already been given. God has pronounced these as hated in His sight. The slaughter of children is sin. Incest is sin. Adultery is sin. Homosexuality is sin. Bestiality is sin. These have been restated in God’s word, lest there be any confusion about what nature is communicating.
These acts are unnatural. Anybody who commits them proves themselves to be a lawbreaker twice over. In one clean sweep, they have spurned both natural law and God’s law. Each, in its turn, will seek its retribution.
It is a mercy of God that sinners are awakened when nature bites back. Nature is leashed; it is held under control by the Almighty Creator.
Often, I wonder how nature could not help but vomit entire populations out of their lands and throw people into utter confusion. Then I remember the kindness and patience of God. It was said even of a nation whom Israel would soon dispossess of their land: “The iniquity of the Amorites is not yet complete.” In other words, there was still time remaining before God would unleash judgment for unnatural practices. Then the land would spew the people out.
Do you think that God was devoid of all passion as He held back what was owed to those evildoers? Do you not think that He desired for them to turn from their sin?
Nations today that normalise sexual disorder and celebrate the accompanying chaos scoff at God’s patience—yes, even the nation in which I write this article today.
Since the start of the new decade, at least 200,000 babies have been slaughtered in their mothers’ wombs each year in the United Kingdom. These are conservative estimates produced within the framework of the National Health Service.
God, our Maker, who watches over life from the very moment of conception, knows the full extent. Nature bears witness as the blood of the unborn cries out from the British soil. The land now lies defiled, and I wonder to myself, “How much more can it take?”
Is not this land convulsing and on the verge of expelling its inhabitants? In a matter of a century, those of British ancestry could well be near extinction. I do not think it is too far-fetched to say that God has already begun His judgment upon this nation (among others in the Western world).
As borders are infiltrated, the so-called sovereignty of Great Britain is undermined. Ungodly leaders scornfully neglect their God-given duty to punish the wrongdoer. Baby-slayers and the sexually immoral find peace in knowing authorities side with them. More sinners wait in the shadows, eagerly anticipating their opportunity to grab their get-out-of-jail-free card.
Expecting the track record of a failing justice system to continue, both incest and bestiality will vie for legal pardon. The decision will be set in stone—the decision of a nation to refuse to be taught by God or nature. This trajectory should come as no surprise.
Through His prophet Moses, God warned His people. Almost in the same breath, Moses condemned incest, child sacrifice, adultery, homosexuality, and bestiality. He spoke of the consequences to be suffered in this life, while Jesus spoke of the consequences to be suffered in the next. Be taught by God through His Son, and find hope in Him that lasts beyond this dying land.
